INUAF - Instituto Superior Dom Afonso III is a Private College, though of Public Interest,also a member of the “Redes Nacional e Europeia de Ensino Superior” - National and European Network of Universities.

All teaching at INUAF follows what was established by the Bologna Model. This fact alone reflects the organization and the work developed by both Professors and students. All Academic Degrees include, since the very beggining, scientific research activities.

INUAFstudies are of two kinds:

- Courses that will eventually lead to an Academic Degree, such as the “Licenciatura”, which lasts 3 years or 6 semesters (180 ECTS - Bolonha 1st Cicle) and Master's Degree, which lasts 3 or 4 semesters (90 to 120 ECTS - Bolonha 2nd Cicle).

- Courses that will not lead to any degree, but will give you a diploma, e.g. Post-Graduations, which confer a high level of preparation in the exercise of certain professional and scientific activities. They are “Especializações Avançadas” (Advanced Specialization Courses), “Formação Especializada de Professores” (Advanced Specialization Courses for Teachers), Master’s and “Especializações” (Specializations).Its duration and accreditation (ECTS) are variable.

Primarily, this College‘s prestige and quality results of the high quality standards imposed by its teaching staff,by the seriousness of its project andthrough the high employment rate of its students, which has already been proved.

The main building – “Campus do Convento” – is located in the historic centre of Loulé, an incredibleancient Convent, where calm and favourable environment for study and research can be easily found here. Most of the classes are lectured andyou can find: the Ecology and Psychology Lab, some heads of departments, the academic services office, the university copy centre, the students' union, the Bar/Canteen, and the Academic Psychological Intervention and Consultation Centre.

At theother building – “Campus do Jardim” – works the Master of INUAF, some Heads of Departments, the UCEF (Sciences of Education Unit), the Post-Graduations Office, the Library, Computer Lab, Multimedia Lab, Business Simulation Lab, Marketing Simulation Lab, Scientific Magazine INUAF STUDIA, Erasmus Office and several Research Centres.

This University was officially recognizedat the year of1997 (Decree No. 301/97 of Octobre, 31).
